THE MAD TITAN!

Busy doing art for christmas gifts because im a poor starving artist, and being an insomniac.
An unfinished glimpse of the mad Titan hope you enjoy. So far im happy with it but its at the point where ive been staring at it to long and i need to take a break before my mind starts to convince myself that theres a million more problems wrong with it than there actually are.

Finally getting around to actually utilizing the canvas flip to check my proportions and comp, need to start learning how to skillfully apply textures using my brushes.

Growing as an artist

On the norm im not to much of a serious person but i guess theres a time and a place for it all, and i guess this is one of those times you know kinda like one of those moments on family matters when they start playing that sappy music and every one learns the moral of the episode...sob...

Any way my point i want to get around to is that i notice alot of artist struggle to be better artist but are always looking for a shortcut or some wise guru to answer their questions that will some how transcend them to some higher level. The truth is its not going to happen, at least not in that way, the only true way your going to learn is through process and experience while its true people can give you crits and hints as to how to do something it is going to be your individual methods and experience’s that are going to lead you to not only becoming a better artist but your own artist as well.
Which brings me to my next point if you have an artist/s that you admire learn from them rather than imitate because at the end of the day drudging away at trying to replicate something that isn’t your own will in my opinion leave you less fulfilled as an artist and quite frankly make your work more of a novelty something that will always be an imitation much like the crappy onslaught of remakes in movies today in most cases it will never live up to the original no matter how polished up it is.
It all comes down to one quotable phrase from Nietzsche
"If the student always remains a student he does the teacher no justice"
of course ive paraphrased it but that’s the gist of it.
So remember learn what you need to learn form some one and if you truly want to be like them aim to match or surpass their skill or the quality of what they do not just what they do.

holy sh@!t im alive!

Well back from the grave (aka my sporatic bouts of motivation) with some new work, been busy working on concepts and sprites over the past month or so and going to try and be a bit more consistent with updating and work in general. any way heres what i got and i hope you like it..cuz i know where you live!!!...yea a bit creepy but trust me even if i did i have the memory span of a gold fish and with that i leave you with the yet to be finished serpent witch and henchmen or minion or whatever you want to call him.
